QUABBIN RESERVOIR 2025

This Monday was one of perfection! After sitting out in the brilliant sunshine for an hour my decision to drive 18 miles west on Route 9 to the amazing Quabbin Reservoir. It was a splendid ride taking in all of the scenes along the way. The history of the Quabbin is revealed in its depth:151 feet. The area encompasses 39 square miles with water for all of Metropolitan Boston. The Quabbin took from 1930 - 1939 to build taking the towns of Dana, Enfield, Greenwich and Prescott. I have a personal experience as the Wendemuth  family moved to North Brookfield in 1936 buying the farm on Bates Street. As neighbors I would go down every Saturday to buy homemade bread and other goodies. When all family passed away it was my honor to dispose of all Earthly possessions. It took 7 U Hall truckloads to dispose by auction at the Blair House. Registered bidders from 10 states and the highlight was singer Andy May singing "The Quabbin Valley Moon. I highly recommend readers to travel to the Quabbin Reservoir in these beautiful days of Spring Take your children, grandchildren. If you are looking for reading material, noted author J.R. Greene has written books "The Creation of Quabbin Reservoir" "The Day Four Quabbin Towns Died" and "More Strange Tales from Old Quabbin."
