MY BUSY WEDNESDAY 4-30-2025

Today has been a full day for me! Early in the day Josh came by with Miley to pick up my "dirty" laundry and trash. Because of the pending warm weather, he installed my air conditioner. After lunch I sat out in the brilliant sunshine for an hour. Coming in I decided to take another stroll. this time to Spencer to St. Joseph's Abbey. I figured the ride would show me how beautiful the last day of April really is. It was a day to reminisce along the way. I traveled across the Brookfield Orchards in North Brookfield and found all of the Abbey alluring. It has been years since I traveled to the summit reminisce finding all of St. Joseph's Abbey captivating. It is a must to see on your "Bucket List." The Trappists make & sell jelly and make garments in the Holy Rood society. It is a "must see" trip on clear days like today. Tonight's Red Sox was a total disappointing. Ahead 6-0, the Blue Jays tied the game and won in the tenth 7-6. Tomorrow is May 1, 2025, so don't forget to change your calendars. I will weigh myself tomorrow. The price of Gold was $3,333.pe ounce.

BOTH BOSTONS TEAMS PREVAIL

Today has been a very long day and very rewarding. The Boston Red Sox walked away with a victory over the Toronto Blue Jays 10-2 hitting 5 home runs. Tonight, the Boston Celtics have flexed their winning ways over Orlando Magics 120- 89. It is rewarding for me to see a Tuesday of Boston victories! Earlier in this day I did sit out in the 80-degree sunshine for half an hour then drove my Honda up Long Hill Road into Warren. Did speak with Josh briefly. Tomorrow I'll do banking and plan on paying my monthly rent. The price of gold today was $3,333 an ounce.

QUABBIN RESERVOIR 2025

This Monday was one of perfection! After sitting out in the brilliant sunshine for an hour my decision to drive 18 miles west on Route 9 to the amazing Quabbin Reservoir. It was a splendid ride taking in all of the scenes along the way. The history of the Quabbin is revealed in its depth:151 feet. The area encompasses 39 square miles with water for all of Metropolitan Boston. The Quabbin took from 1930 - 1939 to build taking the towns of Dana, Enfield, Greenwich and Prescott. I have a personal experience as the Wendemuth  family moved to North Brookfield in 1936 buying the farm on Bates Street. As neighbors I would go down every Saturday to buy homemade bread and other goodies. When all family passed away it was my honor to dispose of all Earthly possessions. It took 7 U Hall truckloads to dispose by auction at the Blair House. Registered bidders from 10 states and the highlight was singer Andy May singing "The Quabbin Valley Moon. I highly recommend readers to travel to the Quabbin Reservoir in these beautiful days of Spring Take your children, grandchildren. If you are looking for reading material, noted author J.R. Greene has written books "The Creation of Quabbin Reservoir" "The Day Four Quabbin Towns Died" and "More Strange Tales from Old Quabbin."

RED SOX & CELTICS WIN!

It has been a Sunday for Boston fans. The Boston Red Sox prevailed over the Guardians 13-3. Seems everything went the way of the Red Sox. It was a confidence builder and now the Sox have a day to traveling to the Toronto Blue Jays. Earlier it was traveling to Hannaford NB for groceries totaling $84.91.  Tonight, I was alerted by son Ben of the Celtics playing the Orlando Magics. The game was the Celtic's winning 107-98. I was amazed to see how rough the game was. It was like a World Series game. Now it will be "back to Boston" My family must be excited with both the Red Sox and Celtics winning. Earlier I the day Chase Robert called sharing his enthusiasm. Seems the Boston fans are building excitement for this week. Stay tuned!

RAIN- RAIN- RAIN

This Saturday saw the most I have rain ever recorded!  Right now, I'm recording 2.48 inches of rain. This will give everything a good shot in the arm and will make everything grow, grow, grow! Today was different as I watched Barrett-Jackson Car Auctions until it no longer capitated my imagination. Prices realized were extreme as I see it. Then came the Boston Red Sox at Cleveland. The Sox lost the first game 5-4 then me back with a victory 7-3. Tomorrow, I plan on watching Joel Osteen at 10:00 AM. I may go to Hannaford NB as I'm getting low on necessary items. Josh came by looking for a certain picture with no avail.

DIFFERENT FRIDAY IN LATE APRIL 2025

Today saw a change in many ways. The brilliant sunshine of the past few days is gone. The Red Sox game in Cleveland was postponed until tomorrow because of rain. My chores included preparing a bag of trash for Josh along with assembling a bag of "dirty" laundry. My mail was fetched from 01585 including a notice from Verde Energy USA which supplies at a price of 15.09 Cents/KWH. In the afternoon I called inviting Josh to go to the Legion with me. 'Can't go as I must mow my lawn." The Legion was fun as usual. Jeff Nickerson had some ideas on how to bring the Cadillac Allante' back to life. He suggested contacting "Rico" who was absent tonight. Carol Slater also joined in the conversation after I enjoyed a BLT sandwich and a soft drink on ice. Tomorrow's weather forecast is for rain. The funeral procession for Pope Francis begins at 3:00 AM. I plan on begin watching TV when I get up about 7:00AM.

SENTIMENTAL THURSDAY

After the Red Sox lost to Seattle 4-3, I decided to take a journey around New Braintree and North Brookfield. I figured seeing Spring in these towns would be rewarding. and it was. The thousands of yellow daffodils allowed me to realize these plantings were the effort of one June Glidden!  As I traveled with my air conditioning on my next stop was seeing the modified version of Bates Observatory. Next, I drove over to St. Joseph Cemetary. where I was greeted with the thousands of names on the headstones. including names of Richard Gagnon, Donald St. Cyr and June Messier. The Southerly views to West Brookfield and Warren were beautiful on this late Thursday in April. My trip was over 20 miles. Coming back, I felt refreshed knowing I had done the correct thing.

THE RED SOX CENTURY

This paperback book recounts an interesting history of the Boston Red Sox! It was published in 2004 by author Alan Ross. Here are some highlights: The Curse, The Green Monster, The Rocket, Teddy Ballgame, Yaz, Fenway, Nomar and Pedro. In my opinion this book can be perceived as a history book of the Boston Red Sox. Tonight's loss by the Sox was 8-5. quite the opposite from last night's victory. Tomorrow will be an afternoon game against Seattle. Today saw brilliant sunshine in which I sat out for a good half hour. Josh stopped by returning "clean" laundry which was put away. The price of gold was$3,449.80 and dropped as the day went on. Tomorrow will be another "winner" with sunshine and temperatures in the 70's.

RED SOX WIN 8-3

My Tuesday was different. The day was partly cloudy inviting me to sit in the sunshine for about 3/4 of an hour. All newspaper headlines covered the passing of Pope Francis and what is to be expected in the ensuing weeks ahead. Josh cane by to pick up my trash and "dirty" laundry. Later in the day he advised Chase Robert would be attending the Red Sox game! In watching the Sox Seatle game, it was inspiring to watch the Red Sox prevail over Seatle 8-3! The price of gold today was bid at $3,449.80.  Tomorrow looks like an even better day weatherwise. maybe the warmest day of 2025?

BACK IN BUSINESS

Every now and then I needed the help of Josh to get squared away! Today was no different. Yesterday the Red Sox defeated the White Sox 4-2 before a crowd of 34,721 fans. Earlier I did my food shopping at Hannaford NB spending $184.21.  The price of Gold continues to rise with today's bid of $3,449.80. Today's weather looks like sunshine and the temperature may each 70 degrees. Looks like I'll be sitting in the sun as my day progresses. The passing of the Pope is making World headlines. I'll follow everything closely as Pope Francis was Jesuit trained.

QUIET EASTER SUNDAY APRIL 20, 2025

This has been a different Easter Sunday for me! After watching Joel Osteen and fetching the New York Times for $6.00 Josh called as he drove by. We reviewed our wonderful Easter Celebration yesterday at Birch Hill. He said Chase Robert was working at Salem Cross Inn in West Brookfield one of the busiest Sunday of the year. The next surprise came at Fenway Park where the White Sox prevailed over the Red Sox 8-4. Tomorrow the two teams play on Marathon Monday at 11:00AM.  Marathon Monday will be full. I intend to watch all contests but first I must travel to Hannaford NB as my list reveals many things must be replaced. Did call sister Jan this afternoon to wish her a Happy Easter. Watch for the increase in gold prices!

HISTORIC SATURDAY

As I got my New York Times this morning I noticed the joint effort of the American Legion Post 244 cleaning up the grounds on Freedom Way. Early in the morning it was the 30th Anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. Former President Bill Clinton delivered a moving speech. Next it was the celebrating of the 250th Anniversary in Lexington, MA. This celebration attracted folks from the USA and around the world. Marching bands and dressed Militia Men made for a great attraction. Josh called inviting me over to his home on Birch Hill for pizza. Also, it was my opportunity to be with my four grandchildren Chase Robert, LilyP, Maddie and Evie. It was a proud moment when each person was presented with a cash donation of $200! Heidi suggested each child give Pops a hug! Next it was coming home to watch the Red Sox versus the Chicago White Sox. R. Devers connected for a home run, but Chicago came back to tie the game at 3-3. In extra innings the Red Sox prevailed with a 4-3 victory in front of a sell-out crowd. Tomorrow, I intend to watch Joel Osteen at 10:00 AM. It was the hottest day of April 2025 with a reading of 80 degrees. I chose to sit out in the sunshine for 3/4 hour. Later in the day we ha torrential downpours giving us .15 inches of rain. Tomorrow will be Easter Sunday, and I wish everyone the happiest day possible! Happy Easter!

RED SOX FRIDAY

It has been a "Good Friday" all the way around! Once again, the Boston Red Sox walked away with a devastating blow to the Chicago White Sox with a 10-3 victory in front of a crowd of 35,620 fans. I think this victory sets the tone for all weekend. I know Chase Robert will be enthused. Josh came around attempting to get the Cadillac Allante' started with no avail. Later he asked me for a lift to pick up a VW rental in East Brookfield. Then he traveled with me to the Legion for an interesting visit. Carol Slater joined in the conversation. Upon leaving I noticed Jeff Nickerson's car but didn't see Jeff. Did sit out in the sunshine for 3/4 of an hour. My "Good Friday" has proven to be excellent!

RED SOX WEDNESDAY

The highlight of this Wednesday just came with the Boston Red Sox victory over Tampa Bay 1-0. After the debacle two nights ago the Boston Red Sox are demonstrating their mettle. Now the Sox have a day off before returning to Fenway Park on Friday. The price of Gold continues to escalate with a bid of $3,346.40. Earlier in the day I watched the Blue Jays Defeat the Braves. Tomorrow I will do some banking in anticipation of Easter Sunday. Spoke with Josh briefly about the changes in the weather. Seems we will be in for some favorable weather as the week advances. Spent some time organizing my front office remembering how wonderful my parents, Joseph & Rita were in paving the way for my life. Thanks!

JACKIE ROBINSON TUESDAY -#42

This Tuesday has been different! We experienced a brief thunderstorm about 4:30 PM. It changed the weather pattern bringing rain and high winds. The big news of the day was the Boston Red Sox prevailing over the Tampa Bay Rays 7-4. It seems everything went the way of Boston. Josh called briefly saying he would stop by tomorrow.  I reviewed some of my Blog entries dating back to 2007. This gives me a sense of history particularly of the Brookfields.  Nothing else planned for tomorrow. Maybe the Red Sox will make it two in a row?! Price of Gold: $3,240.80.

BEAUTIFUL MONDAY

This Monday had all the makings of the best day of April 2025. My day began with newspapers then to Hannaford NB for groceries and supplies. Spent about $142.06. Came back home to find Josh had returned my clean laundry which I put away nicely. My college friend and brother Bill Gross called advising me of his failing health. I sat out in the brilliant sunshine for about an hour at the advice of Josh. Tonight, I was all psyched up for another Sox victory in Tampa Bay. And at last count the Rays have an incredible lead of 15-1! Despite this "shell shock" set back my Monday was, indeed, Beautiful! Price of Gold was $3,227.20.

SPECTACULAR SUNDAY IN APRIL 2025

My Sunday brought me on track again! Josh came by early to take my "Dirty" laundry and trash. The big surprise saw the Boston Red Sox prevail over the Chicago White Sox 3-1. I thought we were going to see a No Hitter, but it just wasn't in the cards. Chase Robert was called but he wasn't aware the game was played! Earlier in my Sunday I did watch Joel Osteen then watched Palm Sunday Mass at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. Tonight, I watched the Masters Green Jacket ceremony. It was very emotional for Rory M. Tomorrow I'll make a trip to Hannaford NB for several supplies I'm getting low on. My Sunday was for sure Spectacular!

DISAPPOINTING SATURDAY

My Saturday began with two inches of snow, not enough to get excited. I went about my chores of filling my bag of "Dirty" laundry and filling up a trash bag for Josh. Josh promised to pick up both tomorrow. He alerted me to watch the Sox/Sox from Chicago and I did. It seems to be another lack luster effort for Boston. The final score was 3-2 Chicago. Tomorrow I'll watch Joel Osteen at 10:00 AM. I hope my Sunday will not be as disappointing!

INTERESTING FRIDAY

My Friday was interesting considering I woke up to an inch or two of snow! After obtaining the New York Times and USA TODAY Josh called inviting me to travel with him to Sturbridge. He came driving Heidi's Jeep. I like seeing all of the places I once frequented. Returning I did go to the American Legion Post 244 for two hot dogs. The crowd was sparse. Carol Slater visited. I returned to the Poodle hoping to see the Red Sox-White Sox contest in Chicago. Right now, the Red Sox trail the White Sox 7-0 in the bottom of the 5th inning. Boston's enthusiasm is short lived. The price of Gold keeps 3,244.60. Tonight, we can plan of seeing 2-4 inches of snow by morning.

COMPLETE THURSDAY APRIL 10, 2025

It has been an exciting day for me. With the Red Sox winning over Toronto, 4-3 in the 11th inning has been great for my Red Sox spirit! I went about my daily routine then getting my mail from 01585. Bills from National Grid and the VA were paid. In the afternoon Son Josh stopped by for a brief visit. The price of Gold continues to soar at $3,178. Tomorrow, I plan on getting gas for my Honda along with heading for the American Legion. My meal has not been decided yet. The weather is changing with rain tomorrow and all weekend maybe with some snow!

This Wednesday saw me accomplish many things. Josh delivered a bag of "clean" laundry which I put away.  The anticipation of another Red Sox game against the Blue Jays ended up in an 11th inning defeat 2-1. One more game against the Blue Jays tomorrow afternoon. The stock markets surged today. So did the price of Gold at $3,076.80. Tomorrow, I will weigh myself and get my mail. FREEZING TUESDAY IN APRIL 2025

It seems we are in a reverse weather posture! The winds and temperatures have reversed our Spring-like weather. My Tuesday saw me travel to Hannaford NB where my purchases were slight totaling $80.78 with a 5% Senior Discount. This Tuesday saw me watching the JFK video again. By watching it I am renewed in Kennedy's Legacy. Son Josh came by to pick up a bag of "dirty" laundry and my trash. Tonight, I watched the Red Sox lose to the Toronto Blue Jays for the second straight night 6-1. Didn't realize the Sox lost to Toronto last night. The Sox have two more games with Toronto before heading for Chicago. Today's weather has been brutal with tonight's temperature at 28 degrees and a wind gust approaching 50 mph. Hopefully temperatures and the winds settle down.

Today's Red Sox are amazing! First game against the St. Louis Cardinals saw a walk-off home run in the tenth inning against the St. Louis Cardinals. Later in the day he called alerting me of the Ladies game for UCONN. Chase Robert called   telling me of his business trip to New Orleans. Sister Jan also called checking on my fall yesterday from my bed. Tomorrow college basketball comes on with Florida versus Houston. If favor Florida, Son Ben favors Houston for the National Title. All of Harrington treated me with respect. All vital signs were taken including X-rays of my elbows and back. Josh took charge and I was treated and discharged. Coming back to the Poodle I watched the Florida-Auburn Final Four game. I was hoping to see Auburn win, but Florida came back to defeat Auburn. Tomorow, I plan on taking it easy after a good night's sleep. I plan on watching Joel Osteen at 10:00 AM.

APRIL FOOL TUESDAY

The highlight of my Tuesday just came with a visit of my granddaughter Evie Potvin.  She and I were all smiles as she sat at my desk and computer. It has been "years" since Evie came by.  In my usual fashion Evie was given with a $50 bill. When asked "what's your favorite subject Evie replied "Math." Earlier in the day it was Hannaford NB where I had some fun playing an April Fool pranks I would say "Your shoelaces are untied!" They looked down then I said, "April Fool!" Most folks looked puzzled then I said, "April Fool!" The total came to $113.18 with a Senior Discount of $.5.90. I did see Carol Slater loading her car from a distance!  Son Josh came by to pick up my trash and "Dirty" laundry. The price of gold today was bid at $3,164.90. Weatherwise it will be very cold the next few days with possible frost in the AM. "Forward ever... backwards never!"
