THE SEEKERS

I was an early fan of the Australian group, The Seekers! "I'll Never Find Another You and Georgy Girl are amongst their biggest hits. The double bass player, Athol Guy, is recognized with his black rimmed Buddy Holly type glasses.

This Australian quartet made it big around the globe. "A World of Our Own " is another recognized tune.

I recall owning an LP by the Seekers and giving it to Dr. Thomas Hudson Moss while serving in Vietnam.

Pop music historians will be entertained by the music of the Seekers. I know I enjoy listening to Judith Durham lead voice. You will recognize her voice instantly!

AK-47 ASSAULT WEAPON

"This weapon is made to kill another man!" Such were the words of Sgt. Smith my basic training instructor at Ft. Knox, KY in 1966!
The AK-47 and the American M-16 have been used in conflicts since the 1960's. The Russians first developed the AK-47  in 1947 and the U.S.M-16 in 1957. It is a common weapon used by both the military as well as gun enthusiasts as well as terrorists. Today these guns sell for about $800.00.

The controversy brought about by the two massacres of the weekend lend itself to the reality credentialed gun owners may buy the weapon that shoots 30 rounds at will.

100 million AK-47 types have been manufactured by the Russians and 8 million by Remington Mfg. (Wikipedia)

In my travels to Wyoming in 1999 I discovered How the West Was Won!.
by guns.

Our 2nd Amendment gives us the right to Bear Arms... Anybody.

In our society of violence it would appear there's no getting around it.

We kill people in war; we kill the innocence in peace. Clearly this massacre will be just another in the framework of life. It's scary yet the truth!

MY BREEZEWAY SUNDAY

In view the two massacres would be all that was in the news I opted to sit out in my breezeway and listen to sermons by the Late Norman Vincent Peale! Peace and peace quiet ruled my day. My Honda isn't up to snuff with a leaky power-steering  unit so I went it alone. It was a quiet Sunday indeed!

I did watch American Pickers. I learn when I watch the pair  negotiate deals. Yes, it's television and cheap entertainment!

Josh & family are down the Cape for vacation. I delight in the kids learning about Cape Cod for it will be an integral part of their adult lives. Ben's phone call is due in an hour.As far as the Red Sox goes.. Yep!

QUIT WHILE YOU'RE AHEAD

It was vintage "Johnson" picking me up to go to a casino! "Let's go to Twin-River" he said with a smile. 'Why not'? I thought.

The trip to Rhode Island was good with not much traffic.

Dick has some Free Slot Play to use and I was prepared to play the Penny Machine! Wouldn't you know "Johnson" won $160! I made $5 on my $10 bet.

Before I could say boo, my sidekick said "Let's get out of here!" The moral of the trip was simple: QUIT WHILE YOU'RE AHEAD!

We laughed. The van driver said "This is the quickest  I've ever seen gamblers leave!" We agreed and enjoyed a KFC meal in Webster!

A SUNNY FRIDAY

Blood sugar read 123  weight 164 lbs..

I received a new dimension to my living: assistance in showering! My tub is dangerous and now with help, things work.

I see where Regina Tourtelotte is scanning photographs. I have lost my touch and need some help.

The cool air of the morning is a welcome change. My door is open. July is behind us and the days are tweaking darkness. Pete Bouchard, meteorologist, said  "July & August reveal shortening days". I can't wait! LOL.

August should be a good month weatherwise and otherwise
