DISAPPOINTING WEDNESDAY

This Wednesday saw me accomplish many things. Josh delivered a bag of "clean" laundry which I put away.  The anticipation of another Red Sox game against the Blue Jays ended up in an 11th inning defeat 2-1. One more game against the Blue Jays tomorrow afternoon. The stock markets surged today. So did the price of Gold at $3,076.80. Tomorrow, I will weigh myself and get my mail. Hopefully I will have fewer disappointments!

FREEZING TUESDAY IN APRIL 2025

It seems we are in a reverse weather posture! The winds and temperatures have reversed our Spring-like weather. My Tuesday saw me travel to Hannaford NB where my purchases were slight totaling $80.78 with a 5% Senior Discount. This Tuesday saw me watching the JFK video again. By watching it I am renewed in Kennedy's Legacy. Son Josh came by to pick up a bag of "dirty" laundry and my trash. Tonight, I watched the Red Sox lose to the Toronto Blue Jays for the second straight night 6-1. Didn't realize the Sox lost to Toronto last night. The Sox have two more games with Toronto before heading for Chicago. Today's weather has been brutal with tonight's temperature at 28 degrees and a wind gust approaching 50 mph. Hopefully temperatures and the winds settle down.

INTERESTING SATURDAY

My Saturday has been long. I slipped and fell from my bed to the floor about 2:30 AM. Tried to get up unsuccessful until Josh called. Then at his suggestion to call the WB Ambulance & squad who helped immediately. It was agreed to go to Harrington Hospital in Southbridge as they have my medical records. All of Harrington treated me with respect. All vital signs were taken including X-rays of my elbows and back. Josh took charge and I was treated and discharged. Coming back to the Poodle I watched the Florida-Auburn Final Four game. I was hoping to see Auburn win, but Florida came back to defeat Auburn. Tomorow, I plan on taking it easy after a good night's sleep. I plan on watching Joel Osteen at 10:00 AM.

UPBEAT WEDNESDAY

Today was upbeat for me! I watched the President's explanation of all the things that will happen at midnight. My deepest convictions are to watch the price of Gold! Will the International markets move the price upwards remain the same or slip? Earlier today the price of gold was bid at $3,160.10.  Tonight, it was watching the Red Sox prevail over the Orioles 3-0. R. Devers had 2 hits and wore a big smile. The Sox play an afternoon game in Baltimore tomorrow returning on Friday for Opening Day against St. Louis Cardinals.   Tomorrow, I will fetch my mail at 01585 and weigh myself. APRIL FOOL TUESDAY

The highlight of my Tuesday just came with a visit of my granddaughter Evie Potvin.  She and I were all smiles as she sat at my desk and computer. It has been "years" since Evie came by.  In my usual fashion Evie was given with a $50 bill. When asked "what's your favorite subject Evie replied "Math." Earlier in the day it was Hannaford NB where I had some fun playing an April Fool pranks I would say "Your shoelaces are untied!" They looked down then I said, "April Fool!" Most folks looked puzzled then I said, "April Fool!" The total came to $113.18 with a Senior Discount of $.5.90. I did see Carol Slater loading her car from a distance!  Son Josh came by to pick up my trash and "Dirty" laundry. The price of gold today was bid at $3,164.90. WONDERFUL FRIDAY IN LATE MARCH 2025

VERY INTERESTING THURSDAY

It has been a very interesting day for me! Early on Jeff Nickerson dropped by as I have a project requiring Jeff's insight. We reviewed my options and feel we are both better off, Son Josh agreed to give me a haircut however the appointed hour was advanced 30 minutes, so I made a trip to New Braintree. This was my first time in 2025. I was looking to see if anybody had trapped the maple trees and sure enough one farmer ran a series of blue lines capturing the sap. Returning to Birch Hill Josh proudly showed me Maddie's new Ford. It's a beauty. I made a donation and promised to buy license plate frames which I hope to buy tomorrow at NAPA. Josh also proudly showed his new Sauna. Afterwards my time was spent watching the Red Sox defeat Texas Rangers 5-2. Abreau hit two home runs! MARCH MADNESS 2025

Being the first day of March Madness I find there's so much to absorb! The first game watched was Creighton prevailing over Louisville. All day long I roamed from game to game not knowing who will make it to the Final Four. I have vivid memories of being at Indiana University when 30,000 fans went wild celebrating their victory. Coach Bobby Knight was one proud puppy! Now we must be patient in tracking our favorite teams. St. John's and UCONN will be watched closely and anything can happen. This Thursday saw me obtaining my mail at 01585.Spoke with Bill Reese and Joe Shepard then late in the afternoon Josh & I conversed. He claims the first two victories may indicate the final games. I called Josh before going to the Legion inviting him, but he was tied up taking Maddie to a playoff. I enjoyed Mazzella Sticks and 2 ginger ales on ice. U.S. CURRENCIES

When Josh innocently said to me "You like money" the thought evokes many memories over the decades of my dealing in U.S. Currency! As previously mentioned, Coin Collecting was the only Merit Badge obtained in Boy Scouts. The first great break came while in Junior College when a friend of my father's handed me a black zippered bag of Gold Backs to sell. I did just that and paid for a semester's tuition at Worcester Junior College. When I served in Vietnam the first thing soldiers had to do is turn in all "Green Backs' for MPC Certificates. This didn't stop soldiers from getting money from home and selling them on the Black Market. Upon returning home I was intrigued with $,1000 bills. I obtained one and showed it to my fellow employees at Aetna. Next came a call from a Worcester bank teller stating "I have $4,000 in $1000 bills for you at face value!  This allowed me to sell them at a small profit. Currency dealers, Namely Heritage Auctions specialize in selling very valuable bills dating back to colonial times. I'm glad Josh made the innocent statement in saying "You like money!" Today saw me getting the Honda washed in North Brookfield for $12.00 then to Hannaford NB where my total purchase came to $109.34. Did watch the Red Sox play to a tie. Tomorrow, I plan on getting my mail. My Monday has been full and rewarding.

HOW TO BECOME A BLOGGER 2025

On March 3, 2007, I began writing a daily blog-entry! Blogging is nothing more than 'Storytelling." There are tricks to writing a good blog. You must be inspired in identifying a topic. Look for ideas that capture YOUR imagination. Photographs of times past will refresh your memory. To be sure you are a historian. Also, look for newsworthy items that may catapult you into crafting each day's blog. Pick a certain time of the day when you are inspired making your blog meaningful. Look for topics you have knowledge on i.e. Coins, Stamps, Clocks, Watches and Autographs. When you are at ease everything comes into focus. Don't dwell as writing your blog will come naturally. I look to see how much traffic I've had friends such as Jeff Nickerson and Carol Slater mention my writing. Kudos to Son Ben for his high achievement with The Hartford! Tomorrow I'll do banking then go to Hannaford NB for food, etc.

A BASEBALL FRIDAY

When the name SHOHEI OHTANI is mentioned baseball fans know Ohtani won't let then down! He was leadoff batter for the Dodgers and hit a HOME RUN!!! This Japanese player was born July 5, 1994, age 30, and continues to make baseball history. Ohtani is amazing and has the World's attention! As the MLB Season grows Ohtani will amaze everyone. pitching, hitting. Stay tuned. Josh was very busy today with Principal, so I delivered my monthly rent to Birch Hill before going to the Legion. I had 2 hot dogs and Ginger Ale on ice then Jef Nickerson and Carol Slater joined in the conversation. Each week we enjoy the keen insights such as "Make a list of all cars and trucks owned in your lifetime." My list comes up to 32. My baseball Friday was much more than I expected.

MY TEMPTATION OF A SPRING DAY

It seems so many observations reminding me of Spring I began thinking what it will be like sitting in my chair at the edge of my garage asking in the sunshine for 30 minutes. Each season it was like "Spring's Around the Corner." In talking with Josh, he reminded me soon the Cadillac Allante' will be awakened from a long Winter's nap. I did watch Spring Training and enjoyed all of the scores posted. Tomorrow, I'll weigh myself for my weekly check hoping things are steady. Today's Gold posting was $2,918.20. Foul weather is in store for the next few days.

MY MONDAY OF ANTICIPATION

Today was full of hope. I had to wait until 4:00PM to watch the Red Sox and Yankees play in Florida only to see rain postponed the contest. Did watch other contests featuring:  Reds Mgr. Terry Francona. Called Josh alerting him of my recurring Shingles condition on my right hand and arm. Josh came in with a new pair of Patriotic trousers, but the big charge was emptying the refrigerator freezer with the hopes of getting it to work again. It worked! Tomorrow I must travel to Hannaford NB, for my usual purchase of food stuffs and a Senior Citizen 5% discount.  I may do banking before traveling to NB. Gold was given at $2971.60 an ounce.

A SUNDAY OF DEFEATS

Not fun when your team loses! The Red Sox fell to the Blue Jays as did UCONN fell to Saint John's. Seton Hall Men's too fell to Xavier.  Not much fun when all favorites lose. Did call sister Jan and wish her #85. Josh left a small bag of "Clean" laundry which all was put away. Did watch Joel Osteen. All in all, this Sunday was good in the final analysis!

BUSY FEBRUARY SATURDAY

This February Saturday saw demands that made me think! I received my Excise Tax for the Allante and Honda totaling $204.23 which I paid. The access to getting my pail saw me needing the help of two women helping me! This would have been Uncle Albert Poulin's birthday February 22, 1918. He was instrumental in my appreciation of Polkas. Uncle Albert proved to be my pen pal while I served in Vietnam. Later in life Albert became interested in coin collecting. Albert smoked 4 packs of Camels for over 50 years. Tomorrow will be my sister Jan's 85th birthday, and I plan on calling her with my wishes. Josh came by with Miley for my "Trash" and "Dirty" laundry.  He also cleaned my Sony HDTV! Tomorrow I'll watch Joel Osteen at 10.00 AM.

RES SOX FRIDAY

The new Red Sox season began with a 7th inning victory! It was most interesting to see all of the new player's names. The only name recognized was Red Sox Manager Alex Cora. The victory told me the Sox are on their way. Tomorrow will see another game at Polar Park, Florida. Maybe the seasoned players will emerge? stay tuned. Josh called in mid-afternoon stating he would not be going to the Legion. He instructed me to prepare a bag of trash and "dirty" laundry. My visit to the Legion was good. Jeff Nickerson and Carol Slater visited me in my old booth where I enjoyed a Cheeseburger Deluxe and Ginger Ale on ice. Tomorrow I must go and get my Maila at 01585.The price of gold today was $2947.40/ All in all my Friday was bright with sunshine and optimism.

GEORGE'S TIRE PLACE. WARREN, MA

I received a phone call from George P. about 11:00 AM stating "Your tires are in." My appointment was for 1:00 PM. As I drove into the stall I requested to stay in the Honda. I did and observed George's mechanic "Mike" take care of business. Two left-side tires were removed as I observed what is involved. It amazes me how each tire was removed. The aluminum rims were wire-brushed and prepared for the new tires "Kelly Edge 225/50R17." Each step of the way I watched with great interest. Charges were made for Rotation of 2 tires $12.00 and Disposal $8.00. The bottom line was paid in cash for $317.50 including tax of $17.50. George is friendly and makes my Wednesday meaningful.  As I drove back to West Brookfield, I noticed how the Honda steered! Call George at (413) 436-5779 your tires be inspected. He is local and will be happy to share his wisdom with you! In other matters tomorrow I will weigh myself. Today's Gold's reading was $2,952.80.

DIFFERENT KIND OF TUESDAY

With the Presidents' Day behind it today felt like a Monday. Winter weather continues as I headed for Hannaford NB. My list was huge with the hopes of getting a prescription filled from a Harrington Hosp. MD. Not so. I presented my empty bottle and was told the prescribing MD would be contacted. Late in the afternoon I received a call from Hannaford NB saying, "No Dice." I called Harrington and was told I must be referred by my VA doctor! Earlier in the day my purchases totaled $l81 43. Did receive the 5% Senior Discount of $9.43 along with a Vendor Coupon of $3.00. I enjoy shopping at Hannaford NB despite the Wintry weather. No word from George's Tire place regarding my 2 new tires for the Honda. Will call or stop by tomorrow. Winter weather continues. The wind blew out a window in my breezeway but didn't break it.

WASHINGTONS BIRTHDAY 2025

It has been a day of snow; rain then snow again! Ronnie M plowed my driveway early then Josh came by making sure everything was fine. I did watch Joel Osteen before going for the New York Sunday Times. It seems Josh had other things on his mind and proceeded to review my entire closet of clothes. With Josh it's easy: Do you wear it, do you want it? Tomorrow is a Holiday in America. Recently Josh asked me about my desire to be President! It all goes back to collecting U.S. stamps and the Presidential Series of 1938.Since then, I have studied, reviewed, and studied the presidents again and again. The topic never gets boring. The favorite stamp is Scots #534 $5.00 Calvin Coolidge. So, if you are looking for something that inspires you. Collect U. S. Stamps. In the meantime, get ready for more snow. Happy Presidents Day

The Pirates of Seton Hall revealed themselves today with an Overtime Victory over UCONN 69-68. This game was played at the Prudential Center. I didn't know the game was being played until the 3rd quarter. I know Ben & Josh will be pleased for sure. Earlier in the afternoon I watched Seton Halll Men's baseball prevail. Josh & Evie are skiing tonight. Snow began about 4:30 PM. The plows are out revealing maybe 6 inches before it changes to sleet and rain. Tomorrow, I plan on watching Joel Osteen at 10.00 AM. VALENTINE FRIDAY

It has been a complete Valentine Friday for me! It all started with my getting the two newspapers. It was in The New Leader Endicott College featured "Lily Potvin, Education." Kudos to LilyP!" At Josh's behest it meant taking my Honda to George's Tire in Warren. Quickly my left rear tire revealed a nail or something revealing replacement. George P. suggested buying two tires which I agreed upon. The two tries will be in tomorrow. I am prepared as safety is my most important product. Now comes my visit to the Legion. My preferred booth location wasn't available. This miffed me as I have an identity with it. It meant sitting across the room. All that was left on the menu was Haddock. French Fries and a salad plus a Ginger Ale on ice. Caroll Slater came by and assuaged me. Neighbor Bill Mansfield was circulating papers for Moderator which I signed. I did enjoy watching he crowded Legion from a different perspective. Now we must prepare for a weekend of snow, sleet and possibly rain.

COMMON SENSE OR COMMON CENTS?

With today's news of not making cents more evokes my many memories in dealing with U.S coins. There is the bible known as the Red Book, A Guidebook of United States Coins by R.S.Yeoman.. I refer to this incredible listing of ALL coins minted by Uncle Sam. This book is published annually and is in the 76th Edition. allows me to check out all varieties, mintages, illustration. I believe today's news will bring about newer interest in the numismatic world. Most coin dealers will have copies for your interests. In other news sister Jan called me today as did son Josh. Tomorrow, I'll fill it with gas for my Honda then go to Hannaford NB for food stuffs. "What's in your wallet?"

SATURDAY OF GRATITUDE

This Saturday was different for me. From Vancouver, WA came a call from a call from my 62-year friend Atty. Bill Gross. Each time we speak about our advancing years and the memories all along the way. Bill and I were roommates at SLU. Being from Indianapolis and the Motor Speedway we each drove one lap in his father's 62 Chevrolet convertible.  Fast forward to tonight's celebration of LilyP's 19th birthday the entire Potvin Klan were treated to the Yummy Steak House, 11211 Grafton Street, Worcester. Everyone was present except Chase Robert. The best part was the entertaining chef whose sense of humor, and culinary talents had all cameras popping. I chose Scallops> The treat was with Heidi as Josh drove everyone in his Ram. Ronnie and Chrissie were also present. I thanked Ron for plowing m driveway which comes to the point of tomorrow's snow prediction of 6-9 inches.  I truly am grateful for all is given to Yours Truly!

THE GALES OF FRIDAY

I had an interesting observation while shopping at Hannaford NB this morning. As I parked in a Handicap position, I observed a man whose ball cap was lost to the wind, then not knowing where it went looked confused. He recovered it and went about his business. My mission was getting a birthday card for LilyP who turns 19 tomorrow. Josh advised me he'll pick me up at 4:00 PM then travel to Worcester for a "Birthday celebration with LilyP and family. Tonight, my visit to the Legion was interesting as usual. Jeff Nickerson and Carol Slater compared stories. Jeff is headed South for four days in Key West with wife Sharon.  As for the next snowstorm. Tomorrow night. Maybe 4-8 inches? then more next week?

HISTORY OF WORCESTER COUNTY, MASS 1879

I have two volumes of Worcester County that have been sitting in my books for years! Today I was curious in finding out about my Wine Roots but to no avail. There's so much history and etchings I must dedicate weeks to satisfy my curiosity. Today was a disappointing time for me. My weight came in at 152.6 lbs. down 2 points and as I look back, I have not changed my daily routine of 2 Ensure Plus.  Tomorrow will see me go to Hannaford NB for a Birthday Card for LilyP along with foodstuffs.  Today's snowfall, too, was disappointing with about 2 inches.  Ronnie M. plowed my driveway once again.  Did speak with Josh.  Tomorow will be Friday where "good things can happen!" I'll plan on going to the Legion in the afternoon.

BUSY WEDNESDAY

This "Hump Day" saw me busy from the get-go. Getting the mail saw me with a back-up of everything from notifications to newspapers. The big news came tonight when Josh advised of LilyP's 19th birthday on February 8th. He also advised of her making the Honor Roll at Endicott College. We will go out for a celebration meal not yet determined. Tomorrow, I'll weigh myself with the hopes I'll gain a pound or two. Speculation is high on just how much snow we'll be getting. I say 3-5 inches! Josh removed my bag of trash and gave my bi-weekly injection.  He also replaced a bulb in my bedroom. All in all, my Wednesday has proven to be busy and complete.

My day began with watching Joel's message: "POWER!" It means a lot to me as it is a core need for me. Then my Sunday began with getting a fill-up of gas at Country Corner and the New York Times.  Then it was to Hannaford NB where I filled up my carriage with a load totaling $115.39.  I have a weakness for certain drinks albeit Landers Drink. Back to the Poodle it was watching college basketball. Son Ben alerted me to Seton's Hall game on FS1 at 6:00 PM. Then I did my research on Ground Hog which is another me for woodchuck! There's an International attraction to Punsutawney, PA attracting 40,000 each year. The tradition says If Phil sees his shadow there will be 6 more weeks of winter. The way today's weather forecast tells me Phil will see his shadow. A "HAIRCUT" FRIDAY

This Friday was different. After changing my calendars to February and getting the Newspapers I was intrigued by the NYT Obituary of Marianne Faithful! Her songs were hits. "As Time Goes By." It was traveling to 'Josh-The-Barber' on Birch Hill for my monthly clipping. Also, he presented me with a new pair of Hey Dude shoes. I presented Josh for my monthly rent for the Poodle then it was to go to the Legion for Mazzerella Sticks and a visit by Jeff Nickerson and Carol Slater. We always have things to talk about. WEATHERWISE OR OTHERWISE?

It all began when my future English teacher, Anne Carey Murphy asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up? I said a meteorologist! She beamed with approval. My inspiration was the Late Don Kent who lived to be 92. There's so much to blog about with the weather. Today the weather captures our imaginations and there's a proliferation of weather forecasters both on television, radio or just looking out the window. I have kept a journal of weather events over the years and delight in reviewing my writings. There's no dearth of instruments in my collection. On the top shelf of weather instruments is a collection of 4 instruments from MAXIMUM in New Bedford, MA. I plan on contacting a Claude Roposo and see if there's any value today?  Also, Cape Cod Weather Instruments offers a selection. This is where I purchased my anemometer for $50 in 1957. Weather instruments give you a better understanding of what's going on. In the last two days the gusts of wind make the news. I like watching Pete Bouchard who gives me the latest reports. We must endure today's weather be it being Weatherwise or Otherwise!

MY HALF-BIRTHDAY

Tomorrow, I turn 82-5! It's meaningful for me to reflect on my life's achievements. The most important date is October 7, 1968; while returning from the World Series n St. Louis it was in New York when I decided to quit smoking FOREVER! I was smoking Winstons at 55 cents a pack when I made it up my mind "That's it. "With my mind made up" I transferred my reward to sons Ben & Josh.: Never smoke a cigarette by the time you're 16 and I'll give each one of you a $100! It worked as neither son has never smoked a cigarette. Over the years it is my persuasion to have compassion for cigarette smokers when today's prices are well above $10 a pack. Also, my reflection on my half-birthday reveals I am in reasonably good health. My daily routine sees me buying the USA TODAY and the NEW YORK TIMES. At age 43 it was my time to stop using alcohol. Food shopping is also a routine at Hannaford NB about 2 times a week. I still drive my Honda. As the saying goes "There's power in a made-up mind" so I challenge folks to enjoy your life to the fullest by abstaining from the vices that may extend you to life! My weight is in control with a weekly reading of 158 lbs. Affirm " I am, I can, and I will" You too may celebrate your Half-Birthday!

It was back to normal on this Tuesday. My newspapers were in then it was going to Hannaford NB for groceries and supplies totaling $75.47 My latest fetish is Tropicana Orange Juice with some pulp.  Spoke with my sister Jan who states she eliminated a land line. Spoke with Josh of my plans for tomorrow; get my mail, pay some bills and address my necrotic supply of pills. Josh suggested I call Chase Robet and take him out for lunch with me paying! Did watch much of Jimmy Carter's DC presentation at the Capitol. It was moving for me to watch.  Jimmy Carters Legacy will be second to none!

A JANUARY SUNDAY TO REMEMBER

This Sunday was full and good Did watch Joel Osteen. The highlight came with an invitation from Josh to see Evie play her game at Quaboag. It was a different game, low scoring and the whole Potvin family was present! Maddie was scorekeeper in the boy's contest then Josh did the same with Evie's contest. LilyP visited with me relating her new experiences as a teacher of grade three Quaboag. It was wonderful reflecting on how important the Quaboag experience is, was and will be. The Patriot's won and fired their coach. The January weather is blasting Central USA. Hopeful, Bill Jankins is on the road to recovery! Tomorrow it will be gasoline for the Honda. Chase Robert continues to work at Salem Cross Inn.

BATTERIES ARE EXPENSIVE

These were the sentiments of Son Josh as he replaced all batteries in the Poodle's smoke alarms, He went to Dollar General for new batteries fetching nearly $40.00. This Saturday was between watching St. Johns prevail and watching the Jimmy Carter's first day funeral ceremonies. I have been cold all day. Son Josh suggested "put on a blanket" which I did! Tomorrow, I plan on watching Joel Osteen at 10:00 AM. The weather is hunkering down to a period of very cold and windy conditions. So how are your smoke alarms? Need batteries? It is a good thing to begin 2025! Brr. Baby it's cold

THE GALES & SNOW SQUALS OF 2025

The weather changed its mind overnight. Gale-forced winds set the tone for this Thursday. Did my banking then headed North to Hannaford NB for some shood shopping. Total purchases came to $84.55. As the day progressed an amazing squall line presented itself dumping snows to cover the ground. white as if it were Christmas! Josh came by with my "clean" laundry and gave me insights about Son Ben who spent New Years with family at Myrtle Beach. Also, LilyP is teaching in the Warren School system for 3 weeks. Good Luck LilyP! Tomorrow, I plan on going to the Legion with best wishes for 2024.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025!

My Wednesday has been demanding. The dismal weather conditions will change in a day or two. Josh came by to reorganize things so now I have a listing of everything important to my wellbeing. The New Orleans news has upset the World once more. I did watch the Rose Bowl Parade. Couldn't log onto my favorite New Year's Day program. Tomorrow will see me do banking and go to Hannaford NB for a list I just composed. Weatherwise winds and dropping temperatures will give us a taste of what's to come! Hope your New Year 2025 is off and running!
