A COMPREHENSIVE SATURDAY

The first order of business this Saturday was to review a found tape of my 50th birthday party and Josh's graduation from Quaboag HS. Many of the people in the tape shows many folks who no longer are here. Blanche & Freddie, Jane Newton, Grace Stachowicz and  many, many more. I will give this "found treasure" to Josh for a keepsake and son Ben will review it some day. Tonight's party for Evie-11 was filled with family and friends. Got home to watch the 'Fallen Sox' lose to the Tigers 1-2. Tomorrow is September 1, 2024 so don't forget to change your calendars! I will Joel Osteen at 10:00 and put away my "clean" laundry. My Saturday was excellent....how was yours?!

MY REWARDING FRIDAY

This Friday  saw lots of action in my life. The Red Sox victory in Extra innings over the Tigers  7-5. It was a beautiful day with brilliant sunshine. I delivered my bag of "dirty" laundry to Josh along with my monthly payment for life at the Poodle. Josh was mowing his lawn in anticipation of tomorrow's 50th Birthday Party at 3:00.In looking for a Ward Hollow DVD I came across a tape of MY 50th birthday party.  entitled Hawaii 50! Will review it tomorrow before going to Birch Hill. This Friday was rewarding indeed!

RED SOX LOSE 2-0

What goes around comes around.  I thought Toronto was heading for a No-hitter. The Sox were limited to only 2 hits. This Thursday was quiet for me until Josh called inviting me to a campfire and a bottle of O;Douls. Miley was running around looking for food. All I had to offer was a hot dog and a roll. This day opened up and got cool. I did drive the Allante" and enjoyed the company of Josh's friends. Tomorrow is Friday and after doing banking it will be the Legion then Jimmy Sturr on RFD TV.. The Sox are off to  Detroit to play the the Tigers. Good night!

RED SOX WIN

It was a Red Sox game worth watching! Bello was spectacular and Jansen came in to seal the deal. My day was spent organizing  my many goods next to my chair. It was a mess and I'm pleased things are now in order. Josh came by to apply creams to my back but was in a hurry and didn't take my bag of "dirty" laundry. The Red Sox victory over the Blue Jays proved to be one of the better games at Fenway this year! Go Sox! I did mail a letter to LilyP at her new address at Endicott College.

MY HAIRCUT TUESDAY

This Tuesday seemed to be perfect. Josh obliged giving me a "Birch Hill Haircut!" It seems my once a month cut suffices. This day was reminiscent when I was a barber in college where I was paid 50 cents. Did receive Lily P's mailing address at Endicott College. Did sit out in the brilliant sunshine for 30 minutes before driving my red Allante' to "Josh The Clipper!" Sox are leading the Blue Jays 3-1 in the Fifth Inning but anything goes! A good Tuesday indeed!

JOSHUA BYRON POTVIN

Contentment best describes the day Josh was born. A father has memories of his children. In Josh's case we both remember more. Josh was a special child from birth. He didn't learn to sleep for months and slow when. he came to talking he was a heart-grabber. Our neighbors in Windsor, CT fell in love with Josh. Adrienne Greenough  and "Walter Mahoney-Next door " both older folks without kids loved Josh. Mrs. Greenough called Josh "My Boy." Mr. Mahoney was an  old coot with a runny nose witnessed  greeting me at the bus stop .Josh ran towards me saying 'DA DA as I lifted my little son high in the sky with love. Mr. Mahoney approved of this gesture saying "you know some think I'm crazy but when I saw you greet your son I know I'm not!" Josh met with approval of family. Family movies with Gram & Pop reveal  a tiny toddler with  bib tops demonstrating great industry in stacking firewood. Josh has been a worker from the get get-go. He demonstrated a talent in working with his hands, and yes, his mouth! I feel selfish when I praise Josh to my friends. I'm afraid they don't understand what I mean. My stories are many and I know Heidi, Chase Robert, Lily, Maddie and Evie are the greatest benefactors of Josh's love. Happy 50th  Birthday Josh and thanks a million! Love, Pops.

SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY

My Sunday was busy! Joel Osteen was watched then I reviewed the Sunday New York Times after going to Hannaford NB where I spent $100. The anticipation of a Red Sox victory over the Razorbacks was short-lived. I did enjoy seeing R. Devers hit a home-run.. his 200th.The Sox lost again. Then Josh came by & mowed the lawn leaving me to sit Miley. Then it was to Ronnies & Chrissies for a birthday celebration - Josh 50 and Evie 11. A big celebration is scheduled for  Saturday  at Birch Hill. I give a shout-out to son Ben and wife Ally celebration their 12th Wedding anniversary on August 31st. Tomorrow the Sox play 2 games versus Toronto. That's all folks!

A GOOD WEDNESDAY

Today has been good. The Red Sox defeated the Astros in an afternoon game I called Lily P to come over for a "donation" of my spare change in a Bentley University bag. Josh & Lily came by and I had a chance to review my college experiences. I recommended going to the College bookstore for a job along with books. Tonight I watched the Democratic Convention with the highlight of President Clinton speaking with shaking hands. I noticed the absence of any flag pins. to demonstrate  his patriotism! Clinton & I go way back to his Inauguration! In all my day was good!

A VERY LONG MONDAY

My Monday was complete from doing shopping at Hannaford NB for food to doing banking. One thing worth commenting on is a Hallmark card Made in Vietnam! I have been watching the Democratic Convention from Chicago. Hillary Clinton's speech was moving and my memory of opposition of the Vietnam war with husband Bill remains. The Red Sox blew another  against Houston! The Bidens are next..

BASEBALL SUNDAY

It has been a rainy Sunday and the defeat of the Red Sox by the Orioles 4-2 isn't worth mentioning! The Sox had many opportunities but just didn't perfect a victory. Now it's onto Houston for three games. Tonight  it's watching the Little League game between the Tigers and Yankees - no score after 5. My biggest thrill of the day is researching THOMAS ALVA EDISON!  Edison us reputed as "The Benefactor of Mankind." Researching Edison on Wikipedia is giving me a command position in learning more about the man. If you want to learn more check out Wikipedia! Yes, there's more to life than baseball!

BUSY SATURDAY

This Saturday seemed to have everything in its place I searched for my copy of WARD HOLLOW The Story of North Brookfield, Massachusetts, a Tyler Nickerson film and only came up with the colorful wrapper! Will check with Jeff Nickerson for a copy. Hannaford NB saw me drop $118.15 to include a supply of Prevagen. While at Hannaford Chase Robert called and came by for a Saturday visit .Chase caught me up on things and untwisted my flag. Later in the day while I was riding around in my Allante' we met again honking our horns. I did drive up to Birch Hill checking things out. Lily P's VW as in the yard.  The Red Sox game was delayed for over an hour. .. 4th Inning no score. Sunday I'll watch Joel Osteen at 10. This Saturday truly was busy!

HOPEFUL RED SOX

Tonight's game in Baltimore reveals two things: the Red Sox know how to score runs.. It is 8-4 in the 4th inning. Anything gives in the remaining time. R. Devers got a home run . This Friday saw me enjoy my visit at the Legion. Both Jeff Nickerson and Carol Slater visited as I enjoyed my cheeseburger deluxe. Must go to Hannaford NB for food in the morning. My Friday was good but not that good!

MY TURNAROUND THURSDAY

This Thursday saw my day "turnaround!" It seems everything went my way. My weight came in at 162.4lbs. I did watch Afternoon Baseball then I decided to refill my Pill Cady for 8 days. Next I decided to get a refill for the Allante' which took $30 the most I've ever seen! Next I reviewed two important stories which I'll cover at a latter date. In Baltimore the Sox are trailing the Orioles 4-1 in the sixth inning. After last night's debacle against the Rangers I don't dwell on things! Yes, it was a turnaround Thursday for me and tomorrow is Friday where "good things happen!"

A WEDNESDAY TO FORGET!

The summary of this Wednesday comes in the disappointing loss by the Red Sox to the Texas Rangers.9-7.I can't recall such a loss as the season progresses.35,356 in attendance. My day was long seeing me putting away clean laundry I did watch a PBS special on the music of Franky Valle. before taking the Allante' for another spin. Stopping at Birch Hill I saw both Lily P and Chase Robert. I enjoyed Jolly Time popcorn and a Canada Dry. As I wrote, this was a Wednesday to forget!

STEVE MAGNANTE TAKES ME TO HOT DOG ANNIE'S!

My day has been huge and highlighted by Steve Magnante visiting me. We drove to Warren to "Allante' Heaven" to see only one Allante' survives! The remaining five or six are gone. Steve seems to be in good stead. Hot Dog Annie's where I enjoyed 2 hot dogs and Annie's famous root beer.  Earlier in the day I received bills for Spectrum -$246.50 and National Grid for $103.43 After sitting out in the sun for 30 minutes I decided to drive my Allante' for a spin landing at Josh's where I saw Chase Robert, Maddie and Miley. I picked up my clean laundry only to be bested by Josh's mowing my lawn. Just now the Red Sox lead the Rangers 6-4! Things change fast at Fenway! My Tuesday is over!

MONDAY, MONDAY

This Monday was full for me! After scanning my newspapers it was off to Hannaford NB for food. I spent $70 for food and the treat was Seafood Chowder which I had for supper. My biggest treat was reviewing a book called 'Reagan; A tribute". President Reagan had the charm with his many communicating skills. Reagan raised the rhetorical question: "Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?"  I responded "Yes" and received  a photographed letter and picture from the "Gipper!" Tonight Son Josh surprised me with a visit along with Miley. Tonight the Sox and the Rangers are tied 1-1 in the 5th. My Monday couldn't have been better!

A SUNDAY OF BASEBALL

This Sunday was perfect with clear blue skies and a low humidity. After watching Joel Osteen for words of inspiration it was reviewing the Sunday New York Times my mind was up for baseball. It wasn't long before I decided 5-0 deficit was enough so I fired up the Allante' taking it for another spin around time. Nobody was at Birch Hill so I kept driving coming upon Ron & Chrissies. Every was there! Heidi, Chase Robert, Evie and Daniel. This family get-together was good. I devoured a serving of Cheese cake. on Josh stopped by with a smile and a new haircut! Later I came home and filled a bag of "dirty" laundry. More baseball.. the Yankees, Mets and other. My only consolation was a over-sized amount of Black Raspberry! Tomorrow will be another good August ."Monday-Monday!"

MY DIFFERENT SATURDAY

The sky was pink as the clouds revealed the day is a tad shorter! This Saturday was full of sunshine. I just couldn't resist taking out the Allante' for a spin and that I did. As I drive up Birch Hill Rd. I noticed Josh's truck was home. As I pulled in Chase Robert alerted me of being in his studio. We had a nice visit when Josh joined our conversation. The Sox fell again to the Astros losing 5-4. Enough I say! One more game with the Astros tomorrow afternoon. Oh yes.. I enjoyed a dish of Blac Raspberry ice cream and Raisins to complete my Saturday.

HAPPINESS THURSDAY

My Thursday was happy despite the clouds!  I'll give a shout out to my friends at Country Corner. As the day progressed I did shopping at Hannaford NB and bought about $70. My afternoon was spent watching different programs. I enjoy Bat Masterson  and Tales of Well Fargo! Later in the day my visit to Lily P at The Clam Box was in order.. It was the usual whole belly fried clams, French fries and and a Diet Pepsi. Josh came by to pick up my trash. My rain gauge registers .23 inches. No Sox game today and the Patriots are leading 7-0. A TUESDAY FULL OF ADVENTURE

My Tuesday was interesting. First I took care of my clean laundry at the compliments of Son Josh. All along the hype was the appointing of Governor Tim Walz as Harris's running mate. I followed the excitement at Philadelphia watching everything on CSPAN. The speakers leading up to VP Harris's introduction were amazing. I did my homework getting my information on Wikipedia. Timothy James Walz was born on April 6, 1964. I like Walz's credentials .He too has climbed the political ladder and means business when he speaks.!  Tonight the Sox leading the Royals 2-1 in the second inning. Yes, my Tuesday was full of adventure!

GOOD BYE TO SON BEN & FAMILY

Son Ben came by with wife Allison & Savannah. It seems the 5 day vacation flew by. We  did the things that were meaningful like dining at 308 Lakeside and other things. Savvy and Evie are two peas in a pod. Maybe Evie can visit them some day? This day was bright and hot. I decided to take the red Allante' for a spin and for some gas. Tonight Josh surprised me with bringing his Kubota mowing machine. My lawn  was so high Josh said "Now we should have Nadon bail it?" The Sox are leading Kansas City 2-0 in the 2nd inning. This Monday was full and complete!

MY REWARDING SUNDAY

My Sunday began with Son Ben dropping by. I said "Let's go to the Quabbin! Ben agreed driving around. We listened to WARE Polish music .On return I drove to NB for food at Hannaford knowing it would be the Sox versus the Rangers in their spiffy blue uniforms. Boston prevailed winning 7-2. Now it is onto Kansas City. Josh came in in a rampage looking for a photo alleging it was in the Poodle. Low and behold Josh called in a conciliatory matter saying he found the picture at Birch Hill! After showers the skies cleared. Ben and family leaves tomorrow for home. He agreed to stop by with mother and daughter to say good bye. My Sunday, indeed. was rewarding!

SATURDAY WITH SON BEN

This Saturday was focused with my older son Ben. We traveled to Spencer with the hopes of finding a Card Shop. No such luck. We then traveled to North Brookfield on the back roads to locate Long View Farm where Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones made home in 1981.Ben located songs on the car radio including J Giles Band and others. Long View is historic and seems to be neglected today. I think Ben now has a better understanding of what Long View means. We agreed to another 10:00 AM tomorrow. Tonight the Sox are trailing the Rangers 4-3 in the 6th inning .The whole Potvin Family continues to enjoy each other!

FRIDAY WITH SON BEN & FAMILY

After my usual activities before greeting Son Ben & family I didn't realize Evie was seated in the back with Savannah! We headed to East Brookfield to dine at Lakeside 308. Everybody like the setting and the menu. I opted for Clam Chowder and an O'Douls while everyone else  feasted on their favorite .Our seats were outside and yes, it was hot! Later in the afternoon we had a thunderstorm before my going to the Legion where my guest was Carol Slater. My meal was two hot dogs and a Ginger Ale.. Didn't get to see Jeff Nickerson. Did get a message from Steve Magnante, returned his call and left a message. I've opted not to watch the Sox at Texas. The Sox were trailing 1-0 in the first inning. Will meet with Son Ben at 10 tomorrow. This Friday was a fun Friday! Happy 21st Anniversary to Josh & Heidi!

THURSDAY OF ANTICIPATION

My Thursday was good: my Thursday was great! I waited all day to see the homecoming of son Ben and family. Their entire flight from Charlotte, NC to Boston, then with heavy traffic on the Mass Pike saw the three of them arrive at the Poodle after 6:00 PM. Ben, Allison and Savanah greeted me with hugs. Ben and Savvy were attracted to the red Cadillac Allante'. Savvy said she would like to drive it when she was older! We agreed to a luncheon at Noon tomorrow. Don't know where we'll dine? Have business at the NBSB prior to lunch checking on savings & checking. My Thursday was complete seeing Ben, Allison and Savvy!
