Ludwig van Beethoven was an extremely sophisticated man. He lived to age 56 and was deaf the later part of his life. I became interested in Beethoven at age 20 when one Frank Cooke was playing the Pastoral, symphony and said to me "name it and I'll turn it off!" In college I bought an album featuring the Pastoral and learned to appreciate classical music.At that time the Late Paul Power and I were exposed to Beethoven's 9th symphony when an evening news featured it. Over the years I have grown to listen to Beethoven for relaxation. Also, the years I've learn to like the Emperor Concerto. Wikipedia has a marvelous recap of Beethoven.
