MLB BASEBALL SATURDAY

MY Saturday was different! After buying the New York Times friend and brother Steve Magnante called asking to visit. Steve is now age 60 and continues to live a busy life working on a major Estate Auction of rare and collectible automobiles. We had a lot of laughs and when I asked Steve of his opinion on my Cadillac Allante' Steve responded 'It's the right color: Red!" The Red Sox fell to the Braves 5-0 only to be bested by the LA Dodgers who are leading the NY Yankees 10-0 in the second inning!! Tomorrow, I plan on watching Joel Osteen on Daystar at 10:00 AM. I changed my calendars to June 2015. did you? My rain gauge registers: .80 inches of rain today. And yes, I watched the legacy of the 1964 JFK silver half dollar. Some folks don't realize the coins value today! Do you have any saved?

FULFILLING FRIDAY

Today has been a fulfilling day for me! After getting my daily newspapers I drove to Hannaford NB for groceries and supplies. The total came to $111.80. Nothing serious other than the usual. I like the Dole Pineapple Tidbits. Josh called suggesting I drive the Cadillac Allante' to the Legion. I did as it was clear enough with no threat of rain. My meal was a Cheeseburger Delight and a drink on ice. Jeff Nickerson and Carol Slater joined in the conversation. The crowd was large. Tonight, the Red Sox and Braves are playing but not on NESN. The Braves are leading 1-0 in the Fourth Inning. Today's price of Gold was bid at $3,324. Again, Happy 53rd Birthday to son Ben!

THURSDAY OF REVIEW

My Thursday was one of reviewing things that mean a lot to me! As there wasn't any Red Sox to report I chose to watch the Phillies defeat the Braves. I did arrange a bag of trash for Josh to pick up at his convenience. In reviewing the contents of my new refrigerator, a trip to Hannaford NB will be necessary tomorrow. I have prepared a list not to forget. An important day in history comes tomorrow with son Ben Potvin turns 53! My how time flies. The price of Gold was bid at $3,346.40. The weather has changed with several days of rain in the forecast. Seems our 'Rainy Weekends" will persist.

BUSY WEDNESDAY IN LATE MAY 2025

My Wednesday was busy all day! After reading my newspapers I decided to call for my mail. Debbie delivered a bundle of mail to my Honda: no checks! This service is appreciated and convenient. It was another loss for the Red Sox. The Brewers won in 10 innings 6-5. After the game I called Josh and decided to take the Cadillac Allante' out for a spin around the town. Stopped at Country Corner for a fill-up. $35.00 Drove 10 miles sporting a decent trip. Tomorrow, I'll weigh myself. Sister Jan called for a 15-minute conversation getting caught up on our family news. The price of Gold was bid at $3,338.80.

MEMORIAL DAY 2025

My day began an hour late! In driving to get my New York Times I met with a variety of detours. As it was, my return home saw me driving up Central Street & Route 9 being first in line. I had a command position to witness all parade participants. I was in no hurry and enjoyed reviewing everything from Fife & Drums to West Brookfield Boy Scouts, Polce. Fire Trucks and more. Coming back to the Poodle I was greeted with Josh prepared to remove my old refrigerator and replaced it with an LG Flag Refrigerator I had originally purchased from Dave's Appliances, Brookfield. My kitchen is graced with my own "Old Glory!" Josh transferred all food stuff while Miley enjoyed 3 pieces of cheese! Later Josh returned to mow my lawn which now looks like Fenway Park. The Boston Red Sox lost another game 3-2 to the Brewers. Tomorow I'll do some banking then plan on taking the Allante' to Parsons for an inspection sticker. My day is now complete. How was your Memorial Day?

HOLIDAY SUNDAY IN MAY 2025

This has been another long day for me! I always enjoy watching the Indy 500 as it is reminiscent for me. Back in 1962 I traveled to Indianapolis with my college friend Bill Gross who worked at the track the previous summer. We had the pleasure of driving his father's Chevrolet Convertible one lap each! It is amazing how fast these drivers go +200mph. And ten it's drinking a bottle of milk. The Boston Red Sox fell again to the Baltimore Orioles 5-1 splitting the series. Not good. Tonight, I watched the Mets versus the Dodgers. My man Shohei Ohtani had a home run, but the Mets have won beating the Dodgers 3-1! Tomorrow, it looks like the weather will clear for the Memorial Day Parade which begins at 9:00 AM. I don't know if I'll attend.

SPLIT DOUBLE HEADER FOR RED SOX-ORIOLES

My Saturday has been interesting! The Red Sox won the opener 6-5. Chase Robert and Evie were at the game and Evie got a baseball as a souvenir! tonight's second game was a different story with the Sox losing to the Orioles 2-1. Earlier in the day I did food shopping at Hannaford NB with my total purchases coming to $132.17. Josh and Miley came by to pick up my trash and "Dirty" laundry. Tomorrow, I plan on watching Joel Osteen on Daystar at $10:00 AM.

EXPLODING RED SOX

Today's first game between the Sox & Orioles proved to be the best of the year! R. Devers continues to be the brightest player on the Red Sox team. Devers has found hitting home runs is easy and slammed two more in the 19-5 victory over the Orioles. A second game was postponed because of the rain. Chase Robert and Little Evie didn't stay, and I'll be pleased to find out when the game will be played. Tomorrow? I did go to the Legion wearing my yellow raincoat. Attendance was light and Carol Slater visited with me along with Rico-My-Mechanic for the Allante. Josh thought he may show up, but didn't "Dirty" laundry and trash await his visit. Tomorrow I'll go to Hannaford NB for food & supplies. Gold as bid at $3,385.90.

THURSDAY OF RAIN

This Thursday, despite the rain, didn't dampen my spirit!  far today, we have received.77 Inches of rain. I found solace in watching the Toronto Blue Jays defeat San Diego in 11 innings.  Spoke with Josh who called me 'Don Kent!" He told of Chase Robert working all day for Piermarini Pools in the rain. My weight came in at 146 lbs. Steady. Tomorrow, I plan on going to the Legion. I haven't forgot I owed Shelby for last week's meal! Gold was bid at $3,339.00 today.

WEDNESDAY OF REVIEW

I spent part of my Wednesday afternoon reviewing my photo albums. Every now and then I like seeing where I've been in my travels over a lifetime. By reviewing my photos and hand -written letters it refreshes my memory. Later in the afternoon Chase Robert came by to tell me of his wonderful trip to Iceland. He showed me a plethora of photos on his I Phone and brought me a Viking souvenir to go with other gifts from Mexico & Paris! We had a chance to review his working this Summer with Piermarini Pools and Country Bank. We spoke with optimism about the recent victories of the Red Sox over the Mets. Tonight, the shoe was on the other foot with the Mets beating the Red Sox 5-1! Tomorrow we can expect the Nor'easter which will bring us rain and gusting winds. All media is tracking the storms fury. The price of Gold was bid at $3,331.30.

SENSATIONAL RED SOX

Who could believe the Boston Red Sox have won the second contest against the New York Mets 2-0! This Tuesday saw me looking for some inspiration, so I played John F. Kennedy's "Years of Lightening" again. The review states "A TRULY MAGNIFICENT and SOUL-STIRRING FILM." I went about my Tuesday doing what I was supposed to do: Preparing a black bag of trash and "dirty" laundry. Spoke with Josh briefly saying he was to pick up Chase Robert at Logan tonight at 11:00 PM. Today was cold and now some rain. The weather forecast for all week is rain and a May Nor'easter on Thursday so look for inspiration in all you do!

RED SOX DEFEAT METS 3-1

It has been a long day for me! My first order of business was taking the Honda to Parsons EB for an "Upper Ball Joint."  I had no idea what the charges would be and to my surprise the total came to $176.73 My Honda has 192,771 miles on it. I did mail a 53rd Birthday Card to son Ben in Belmont, NC with a cash donation. Later in the day Josh called for a lift as Chase Robert's Jeep was leaking something. As it was, he returned the vehicle to Birch Hill and put it in his garage. Tonight's excitement came at Fenway Park where the Red Sox defeated the Mets 3-1. Pete Bouchard. Boston weather man is forecasting a 'May Nor-Easter' for Thursday! Today's winds were gusting at 43mph at the Worcester Airport. The price of Gold was bid at $3,2481.10.

DIFFERENT KIND OF SUNDAY

My Sunday was different! R. Devers Grand Slam home run was a point of optimism for the moment. The Braves went on to win 10-4. Seems Devers is the only reason for the Sox to be upbeat! Tonight, I've be watching the Mets and Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. The Yanks lead 2-1 in the fourth. Tomorrow, I take the Honda to Parsons EB to correct the right-side ball joint at 9:00 AM. Today's cloudy weather replaced yesterday's brilliant sunshine!

WONDERFUL SATURDAY!

This Saturday proved to be wonderful for me. The biggest treat was Devers' walk-off home run in the 9th Inning. The final score was Boston 7-Atlanta 6. This proves Devers is still #1 in my book. My trip to Hannaford NB was productive spending $133.09. The Asparagus Festival on the Town Common was amazing. The crowd flourished; the weather man was wrong! Brilliant skies had me take the Allante' to the Birthday Celebrations at Ronnie & Chrissies. It was a renewal of family & friends. some not having seen in quite a while. Tomorrow, I plan on watching Joel Osteen at 10:00 AM on Day Star. Just now we had a passing shower registering .02 inches. And yes, I enjoyed Wonderful Pistachios!

91 CADILLAC ALLANTE' READY FOR SPRING!

Today has been a Thursday of accomplishments.  After doing my banking and reading the newspapers, USA TODAY and the NEW YORK TIMES I had a surprise visit by Josh who removed my "dirty" laundry. We spoke about the Allante's future. Rico came with a new battery and a Safety Terminal to be used in off season. This terminal will prove to be "just what the doctor ordered" in Winter. After all was said and done, I decided to drive the car to Birch Hill for Josh to see. He wasn't home but I met him driving back. He suggested coming back for him to wipe down the car. It was raining providing him a base. The car sparkled and is now ready for some sunshine. Josh approved of seeing the Allante' ready for a new season.

RED SOX DEFEATED BY TIGERS IN 11TH INNING

For a fleeting moment I thought the Red Sox had a victory over the Tigers! Not so.  Seems the Red Sox are doomed regardless how good the team tries. Christian Campbel's home run just didn't get it. Today has been long with much to write about. Spoke with Josh suggesting I call the Post Office to get my mail. The price of gold today was bid at $3,233.38. We must endure in moments like this!

SOME THOUGHTS ON AGING

I found a quote from Mark Twain: "Age is mostly a matter of mind. if you don't mind it doesn't matter." This Mother's Day was special for me. I have many memories of my mother Rita Poulin Potvin who lived to age 91. Her last two years were spent at the Quaboag Nursing Home where I visited Gram Rita each day. Gram was an integral part of my life. She told of my requiring 5 bottles of milk each night. Sister Jan was two years older than me, and we lived at 18 South Main, North Brookfield.MA. Gram was a moral fiber in seeing my life develop from being a Delegate at Boy's State and Good Conduct Medal to assisting both Ben & Josh in my Estate Auction Business. It is my deepest conviction MY MOTHER RITA was the best! Happy Mother's Day Gram Rita!

VERY BIG FRIDAY IN MAY 2025

My Friday saw many challenges. The biggest disappointment just came with the Red Sox losing to the Royals in the 12th inning 2-1. The day saw terrible weather all day with rain. My visit to the Legion was productive with visits from Jeff Nickerson and Carol Slater. Best of all came a visit with Rico-The-Mechanic who agreed to visit Monday at 5:00 to check the Allante' for possible electrical or battery problems. Chase Robert will call tomorrow at Noon for a visit before going to Iceland for 11days. I plan on giving him a "Donation" for his trip! The price of gold was bid at $3,337.60. We must endure one more day of rain then on Mother's Day. Sunshine!

AMERICA'S NEW POPE

The white smoke billowing foretold the world has a new Pope! Born in Chicago, Pope Leo has unique credentials. All day long the news gave insights who this 69-year-old man really is. One item I liked is he is a Chicago Cub fan!  CBS News did a marvelous job in reviewing his history. Speaking 5 languages he is truly a "Pope of the world." On the MLB scene the Red Sox defeated the Rangers 5-0. Devers had another home run revealing he's back in business. The price of gold was bid at $3.310.00 per once. Tomorrow, I plan on going to the Legion and enjoying another BLT. Tonight, we had a thunderstorm depositing .69 inches of rain.

RED SOX WIN - CELTICS LOSE

This Wednesday has a find ending for the Red Sox winning 6-4. The Celtics lost 91-90. The professional contests make life interesting right to the end. Today was cloudy. I did sit out in the sunshine for about 15 minutes then clouds took over. Earlier Josh returned "clean" laundry which was put away. Also, I replenished 5 days of pills in my Cady. Tomorrow, I'll weigh myself and fetch the mail. The price of gold was bid at $3,401.36. I enjoyed watching both contests tonight!

TUESDAY OF DISCOVERIES

This rainy Tuesday saw me digging in my files for blog ideas. One of the most important finds entitled SETTLEMENTS OUTSIDE QUEBEC. This document recounts all of the history of the   French-Canadian migration to the USA. It encompasses titles such as "The Riel Rebellion", "Modern Era"1929 to 1969: "Education Keeps Things Alive."  "Tradition, Customs and Beliefs. 'Proverbs," "Cuisine," "Traditional Costumes," "Dances and Songs," "Holidays," "Health Issues," "Language, French-Canadians "were staunch Roman Catholics!" I recall seeing my dad dancing to French-Canadian music heard on station WACE.  The authority in written form is the book "THE FRENCH- CANADIAN    HERITAGE IN NEW ENGLAND " by Gerard Brault. As a Fifth Generation Franco-American I suggest obtaining a copy to further your insights into our heritage! In other news the price of Gold was bid at $3,400.00 1 an ounce.  Not to mention the Red Sox were trailing the Astros 6-1 in the eighth inning.

BASEBALL SUNDAY

Despite the Boston Red Sox loss to Minnesota 4-3 this has been a good day for me! I went about my business spending a ton of money at Hannaford NB. I figured it would be better to stock up on essentials and the bill came to $163.13. Now my refrigerator is full, and I can relax. Did speak with sons Ben and Josh talking baseball and other important topics. Tonight, I have been watching the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Seems to be more relaxing than watching the crumbling team from Boston. Have prepared a bag of trash and "Dirty" laundry for Josh who will come by tomorrow. All in all, my Sunday is now complete.
