A "HAIRCUT" FRIDAY

This Friday was different. After changing my calendars to February and getting the Newspapers I was intrigued by the NYT Obituary of Marianne Faithful! Her songs were hits. "As Time Goes By." It was traveling to 'Josh-The-Barber' on Birch Hill for my monthly clipping. Also, he presented me with a new pair of Hey Dude shoes. I presented Josh for my monthly rent for the Poodle then it was to go to the Legion for Mazzerella Sticks and a visit by Jeff Nickerson and Carol Slater. We always have things to talk about. The crowd at the Legion was formidable and the rain dampened my spirit a bit. All in, all this Friday was wet and meaningful. Have you changed your calendars to February? I have.

MY THURSDAY WITH MEANING

The good news comes with my weight-gain to 154.6! My goal is to keep going until I reach 160 lbs. My doubling up on Ensure Plus gives me the encouragement needed. I keep learning about the weather and a book entitled "The Book of Clouds" by John A. Day is the bible of cloud formation. This 200-page tome covers the history of all cloud formations, their names and history. Anyone who wants to delve into the history of all cloud names will delight in obtaining this book. Tomorrow I'll go to Birch Hill for a haircut and a new pair of Hey Dude shoes. Next, I plan on going to the Legion and haven't decided on what meal to get? Maybe 2 hot dogs? Hope to see Carol Slater and Jeff Nickerson. My day has been full.

WEATHERWISE OR OTHERWISE?

It all began when my future English teacher, Anne Carey Murphy asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up? I said a meteorologist! She beamed with approval. My inspiration was the Late Don Kent who lived to be 92. There's so much to blog about with the weather. Today the weather captures our imaginations and there's a proliferation of weather forecasters both on television, radio or just looking out the window. I have kept a journal of weather events over the years and delight in reviewing my writings. There's no dearth of instruments in my collection. On the top shelf of weather instruments is a collection of 4 instruments from MAXIMUM in New Bedford, MA. I plan on contacting a Claude Roposo and see if there's any value today?  Also, Cape Cod Weather Instruments offers a selection. This is where I purchased my anemometer for $50 in 1957. Weather instruments give you a better understanding of what's going on. In the last two days the gusts of wind make the news. I like watching Pete Bouchard who gives me the latest reports. We must endure today's weather be it being Weatherwise or Otherwise!

MY HALF-BIRTHDAY

Tomorrow, I turn 82-5! It's meaningful for me to reflect on my life's achievements. The most important date is October 7, 1968; while returning from the World Series n St. Louis it was in New York when I decided to quit smoking FOREVER! I was smoking Winstons at 55 cents a pack when I made it up my mind "That's it. "With my mind made up" I transferred my reward to sons Ben & Josh.: Never smoke a cigarette by the time you're 16 and I'll give each one of you a $100! It worked as neither son has never smoked a cigarette. Over the years it is my persuasion to have compassion for cigarette smokers when today's prices are well above $10 a pack. Also, my reflection on my half-birthday reveals I am in reasonably good health. My daily routine sees me buying the USA TODAY and the NEW YORK TIMES. At age 43 it was my time to stop using alcohol. Food shopping is also a routine at Hannaford NB about 2 times a week. I still drive my Honda. As the saying goes "There's power in a made-up mind" so I challenge folks to enjoy your life to the fullest by abstaining from the vices that may extend you to life! My weight is in control with a weekly reading of 158 lbs. Affirm " I am, I can, and I will" You too may celebrate your Half-Birthday!

MY JANUARY MONDAY OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS

When I worked for Aetna employees were rewarded with a "Performance Bonus." Today in reflecting how much Josh gave to getting me up and running with my new HP computer I decided he deserved a bonus! When I broached the topic Josh was not eager to receive my gesture and he did indeed accept my offer.  This Monday saw me accomplish much. After doing banking I went to the Post Office for some stamps and chose the Vallentine sheet Forever USA. I always look for stamps with a meaning.  Tomorrow it will be a trip to Hannaford ahead of the forecast snow. Winter remains for the time being. It has been a January Monday of accomplishments!

TRUMP'S INAUGURATION TO BE INSIDE!

January 20, 2025, will see Donald J. Trump to be inside. The decision was made today when the weather forecast wasn't favorable. There will be millions of Americans watching in person, on CSPAN, and on network television. I plan on watching this historic event in the confines of my home on HDTV. In other news Josh came by to pick up my trash and "dirty" laundry. Today we plan on going to the American Legion Post 244 at 4:00 PM.  I look forward to this Friday with 'Square Pockets!"

JIMMY CARTER'S FUNERAL

The Jimmy Carter Funeral as seen on CSPAN, was inspirational for me. All speakers had a message. It was Christian. Carter's Legacy will be remembered for another 100 years. Singer Garth Brook wasn't recognized by me.  Today, Josh came by stating the tires on my Honda need attention. He drove to Country Corner for some air in the tires and came back saying I must take the car to George's Tire not knowing if the 4 tires have nails or whatever? This week I must organize my front office. This Sunday was beautiful, moderate and ready for the Full Moon! Savannah Hope can be found on Facebook of Savvy's high achievements.

MY SNOWY SATURDAY IN JANUARY

Today was a transitional weekend for me. The day began with Josh sweeping the light snow from the driveway and asked me if he wanted to pick me up for Evie's basketball game at WBES. I said yes. We attended the contest early to be greeted by Evie, Chase-Robert, Maddie and others. Evie once more stole the show. Josh wanted to linger after the game was over, so we remained. My usual exercises reached. I enjoyed a bottle of Ensure Plus.  Tomorrow I'll watch Joel Osteen at 10:00 AM. Today was good and tomorrow promises to be better.

LUNCH AT THE PUBLICK HOUSE WITH CHASE ROBERT

It was a last -minute change in plans. Chase-Robet called volunteering to drive my Honda to Sturbridge. After deciding what would be best, we landed and found the meal enticing. Chase ordered a NY Strip while my choice was a cup of clam chowder. The choice or desert was Indian Pudding and Chase chose Cheesecake. The total bill came to $62.06. The engaging trip was so enticing.  Upon returning to the Poodle, I called Josh advising of a basketball game at the W.B.E.S. tomorrow at 12:30 PM to watch Evie the Spitfire play. Maybe there's a little snow in the forecast? This Friday was special being with Chase-Robet!

MY FRIDAY DATE WITH CHASE-ROBERT

This Thursday proved to be interesting. My weight loss came in at 150 pounds, so I consulted with Son Josh. His advice was excellent: Increase your consumption of Ensure Plus and I did. " Complete, balanced Nutrition 350 calories to help gain or maintain a help maintain a healthy weight." A new idea for the New Year. Connected with Chase Robert who will be picked up tomorrow at Noon. "You chose where you want to eat, and I'll pay!" In other news I watched Jimmy Caters funeral and I was touched by the Artist's rendition "Let There Be Peace on Earth."  Another cold night at the Poodle.

HUMP DAY EXPRESS

It has been a windy, cold Wednesday! The California fires have made the biggest headlines. The Late Bill Jankins Obituary can be found on Facebook. Bill has an amazing West Brookfield past and will be sorely missed by all of Bill's friends and the community. Josh came by to pick up my trash with Miley. Received a nice thank you note from 01585. Not much else to blog about! Windy and cold at 15 degrees. Tomorrow, I'll weigh myself.

A JANUARY SUNDAY TO REMEMBER

This Sunday was full and good Did watch Joel Osteen. The highlight came with an invitation from Josh to see Evie play her game at Quaboag. It was a different game, low scoring and the whole Potvin family was present! Maddie was scorekeeper in the boy's contest then Josh did the same with Evie's contest. LilyP visited with me relating her new experiences as a teacher of grade three Quaboag. It was wonderful reflecting on how important the Quaboag experience is, was and will be. The Patriot's won and fired their coach. The January weather is blasting Central USA. Hopeful, Bill Jankins is on the road to recovery! Tomorrow it will be gasoline for the Honda. Chase Robert continues to work at Salem Cross Inn.

BATTERIES ARE EXPENSIVE

These were the sentiments of Son Josh as he replaced all batteries in the Poodle's smoke alarms, He went to Dollar General for new batteries fetching nearly $40.00. This Saturday was between watching St. Johns prevail and watching the Jimmy Carter's first day funeral ceremonies. I have been cold all day. Son Josh suggested "put on a blanket" which I did! Tomorrow, I plan on watching Joel Osteen at 10:00 AM. The weather is hunkering down to a period of very cold and windy conditions. So how are your smoke alarms? Need batteries? It is a good thing to begin 2025! Brr. Baby it's cold

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025!

My Wednesday has been demanding. The dismal weather conditions will change in a day or two. Josh came by to reorganize things so now I have a listing of everything important to my wellbeing. The New Orleans news has upset the World once more. I did watch the Rose Bowl Parade. Couldn't log onto my favorite New Year's Day program. Tomorrow will see me do banking and go to Hannaford NB for a list I just composed. Weatherwise winds and dropping temperatures will give us a taste of what's to come! Hope your New Year 2025 is off and running!
