A RAINY TRICK OR TREAT

The grandkids were all decked out in their costumes only to be faced with umbrellas. I saw Lily, Maddie and Evie at Ronnie and Chrisies. Visited for a while as the Patriot's game was on.Enjoyed a bowl of chili, two shrimp and a coke. Earlier in the day as I returned from Warren and doing laundry I came home to "Josh-the-Janitor." He did a spectacular job in every respect from washing the floors to helping me make my bed.I'll favor his efforts with some live lobster! The hype of the day came in the Braves victory over the Astros. I think both teams will be evenly matched.I choose not to watch the contest. My new shower stall is complete. Once again Josh too charge of finishing things up with a shower curtain and handle bars, etc. ROBERT LOUIS POTVIN

A RAINY OCTOBER SATURDAY

This rainy October Saturday began with the good news of Atlanta 2 hitting the Houston Astros.I bought trick or treat candy at Dollar General. Rick Santos came to do more wall board work on the shower stall.Josh stopped by with Evie as"Johnson" made his appearance. We drove to NB to review the new constraction progress of the gas station. We then went around the Brookfields and ended up in Belchertown for a McDonalds lunch. The price went above $8 for two meals. Earlier Dick drove over a back road and got his truck all scratches. Afterwards I watched a review of the World Series victory by Atlanta. Hopefully they will win again tonight?! Hopefully tomorrow will clear for Trick or Treaters? ROBERT LOUIS POTVIN

A FROSTY 26 DEGREES TO START THIS FRIDAY

There was a fog during the night and by sunrise a heavy frost prevailed. I drove to Spencer to Tony's Cleaners then cross country to North Brookfield. It was a beautiful beginning that turned cloudy by noon. The construction of the new gas station continues to take shape. This structure will re-define the towns center. I food shopped to the tune of $50 and Josh helped me unload my purchases. He was working with Larry Allard in installing my new shower. Should be finished tomorrow. I went to Chase's soccer game at Quaboag and stayed for half a game. It was 2-1 Quaboag when I left. Tonight's game shows were pre-
empted by the Patriots stuff. Rural TV had the FFA convention instead of Jimmy Sturr Polka show. My only choice was Chronicle or Mecum Car Auction. Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow. ROBERT LOUIS POTVIN

A CLEAR COLD NIGHT IN STORE

The skies cleared about 4:00 PM promising a frost by day break. I got a phone call from Doerun, Georgia, and my aauctioneer buddy J. Maurice Barfield. He was inquiring about the nor'easter as reported on the Weather Channel. We hadn't chatted for a while. Earlier in the day I traveled to North Brookfield and am pleased to report on the progress of the new gas station building in the center of town. The rafters are up giving a true definition of what to expect. Should be closed in in a month. I then went to the Senior Center. Only three were there for lunch. Next week meals will only be given on Wednesday! Drove the Allante' over to Birch Hill at 5:00. Wore my black wool jacket and enjoyed a nice visit with Chase Robert. I enjoyed Shepard's Pie for a change. No World Series to report on tonight. ROBERT LOUIS POTVIN

EAR CANALS FLUSHED & OPENED

It has been a busy day. After doing my banking I decided to drive myself to the Lincoln Street VA location. I drove in on Route 9 arriving early. It was quiet and I waited close to an hour. The procedure was lengthy as a syringe was squirted with warm water in each canal freeing up the amazing amount of ear wax. Voila! I can hear again!.Earlier in the morning plumber Larry Allard and wallboard specialist Danny Santos removed the old stall and installed the new one.The new stall will give me a seat and not difficult to step in. The job should be finished tomorrow? I ate at Spencer McDonalds with the usual of burger, fries and a soda. I followed the Nor'Easter on the Weather Channel & Pete Bouchard. I've chosen not to watch the World Series. ROBERT LOUIS POTVIN

BLOCKED EARS & IMPARED HEARING

I woke this morning and I couldn't hear! I have been taking ear drops as pescribed for about 4 days. I called the VA nurse and have an appointment in Worcester tomorrow at 11:00 to have both canals flushed. Big toodoo with getting my shower stall replaced. Must vacate bathroom by 8:00 AM for plumber Larry Allard.Pay-day tomorrow with Social Security.A busy Tuesday, indeed! ROBERT LOUIS POTVIN

Today saw the morning temperature at 30 degrees. The frost was evident across the street at GREMARCO. The weather forecast for this week according to Pete Bouchard is 'Two Nor'Easters!'. Wind and rain are in the forecast. Our spell of good Fall weather seems to be over for now. I watched the Patriots onto victory in a high scoring game over the Jets. Took the Allante' out for one more ride. Feel the days are over! Ben and I talked about the World Series. Ben chooses Atlanta and I Houston. I like Dusty Baker's style. The guy is 72 and has been around forever. The Series begins Tuesday night. ROBERT LOUIS POTVIN

A COLD DAY FOR A CONVERTIBLE!

Blood glucose 115 Weight 162 lbs. This October Saturday was good. "Johnson" came by and we traveled to Westborough to see the remains of the Lyman School for Boys. Dick lived there in the seventies for a period of time. Later in the afternoon I drove my Allante' to Birch Hill. I drove to NB for lunch and only two others showed up! The Pot Pie was not that good. I returned to WB and got my mail. A FULL WEDNESDAY

The fog burned off by mid-morning giving us a warm Wednesday. I spent several hours filling out paperwork for Fuel Assistance through the Worcester Community Action Council. I get help each year by "asking for it!" The cost of gasoline is now $3.19 a gallon. Had an interesting round table disgussion at the N.B. Senior Center. The ladies were talking about "kids today and lack of discipline in school." I didn't say much! The hype in baseball circles is covered in both USA Today and the N.Y. Times, the Red Sox and the Astros. Stay tuned for Friday night's game in Houston. Josh came by at 7:00 PM after a busy day with games Chase, Lily and Maddie had. The Boston Mayoral debate was interesting. I favor Counsellor George over Counsellor Wu! ROBERT LOUIS POTVIN

FOLIAGE IS COMING ON NICELY

Wine Village, NB is beginning to reveal peak foliage. In the past few days the trees are beautiful. Must sieze the moment! Today marks my 53rd anniversary as a NON SMOKER. I quit cold turkey on October 7, 1968 and never smoked another. The 53 years reveal better health. I have lost family and friends to tobacco. Not good. My sons never smoked. When they turned 16 I gave each a $100 bill as a reward. Tonights game between the Sox and the Rays will be interesting.I maintain IF Boston can win one of two in Tampa it will be encouraging for a return trip to Boston. ROBERT LOUIS POTVIN
